There are indications that endocrine regulation of hunger and appetite may also be affected by lack of sleep. In this particular study, researchers noted that sleep-deprived subjects ate normal meals, but ended up eating a lot more calories from snacking throughout the day than those who were not sleep-deprived.
When you are sleep-deprived, you can have difficulty losing weight and even maintaining weight. It has been documented that individuals who are well-rested have better overall health than those who are not.
